St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team had an offensive explosion on Friday at Lindenwood, scoring 15 runs over the two games. Jessica Colliver threw a complete game shut-out for the Bearcats in game one, winning 7-0, but SBU dropped game two 8-9.

Colliver threw the ball extremely well in game one of the series, scattering 5 hits over 7.0 innings while striking out 7. The Bearcats quickly got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. Kassy Williamson led off the game with a single and was eventually brought home by an rbi single from Taylor Atwood, giving SBU a 1-0 lead. Colliver continued her dominate pitching effort, as only needed one run to come away with the victory, but the Bearcats gave her six more runs in the top of the seventh inning. After two single and an error, the bases were loaded for Williamson. Williamson blasted a double, bringing home all three runners, and would come around to score on an error on the next batter. The Bearcats would add two more runs off of rbi singles from Alexa Harvey and Atwood to go on to the 7-0 game one victory.

In game two SBU was once again quick to get on the scoreboard. In the top of the second inning with the bases loaded Williamson once again came through for the Bearcats by hitting a single to score Alandria Jensen to give SBU a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats would add another run in the top of the third off of a sacrifice fly from Autumn Lamle to put SBU up 2-0. The Bearcats continued to push, adding three more runs the following inning. The Bearcats once again loaded the bases when two runs scored off of a Lindenwood error. Harvey then belted a double to bring home Jennifer Martinez to give SBU a 5-0 lead. Lindenwood responded in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-5 lead, but SBU continued to battle. In the top of the fifth Hailey Turner hit an rbi single to bring home Jensen tying the game up at six all. Then with the bases loaded Harvey had a two-rbi single to give SBU an 8-6. Lindenwood would rally, and come away with the 9-8 victory.

The Bearcats will close out regular season play on Saturday, April 21 when they travel to Jefferson City to take on Blue Tigers of Lincoln. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
