Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team collected 18 hits over the two games played on Friday, but SBU dropped game one 4-1 and game two 5-3.
In game one Fort Hays jumped out to a 4-0 lead after five innings before the Bearcats were able to get in the scoreboard. In the bottom of the fifth
Jacob Estes singled up the middle and then advanced to second off of a wild pitch.
Brendon Cox then singled down the right field line to bring Estes home and cut the lead to three at 4-1. Fort Hays would buckle down and take game one 4-1.
In game two Fort Hays once again jumped out to the early lead, going up 3-0 after three innings. However, the Bearcats responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third inning. After back-to-back singles by

Tyler Christophel,
Spencer Blacksher layed down a sacrifice bunt to put the runners on second and third.
Drew Miller then had an rbi groundout to pull SBU within two at 3-3. The Bearcats would then tie the game up in the bottom of the fourth when Cox hit a two-rbi single up the middle to pull even at three all. Pitching was solid for both ballclubs the remainder of the game, but Fort Hays went on to the 5-3 game two victory.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, April 21 for senior day. First pitch of the double-header is set for 12:00 p.m. from Dodson Field.
