SBU Baseball to Host Fort Hays to Finish Out Home Season; Senior Day Set for Saturday

- The Southwest Baptist University baseball team is set to finish off their home portion of the 2012 schedule this weekend when they host Fort Hays State. Saturday marks senior day for the seven Bearcat seniors, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the Bearcats as they continue their run towards the MIAA Conference Tournament.

SBU Rankings in the MIAA
As a team, SBU ranks 6th in batting average (.313), 7th in on base percentage (.383), and 5th in hits (358). The Bearcats are 2nd in the MIAA in triples (16) and are 3rd in the MIAA in stolen bases (51).

Tyler Christophel and Drew Miller are ranked in the top 10 in several offense categories for the Bearcats. Christophel leads the MIAA in runs scored (52) and stolen bases (33), and ranks 3rd in hits (54), 3rd in triples (3), 4th in batting average (.400), 8th in on base percentage (.493), and 10th in total bases (71).

Miller currently ranks 4th in batting average (.400), 2nd in runs batted in (41), 10th in hits (50), and 10th in on base percentage (.458).

Cody Crutcher is 2nd in the MIAA in triples (4) while Landon Young is tied for 3rd in the same category (3).

From the mound Cody Holzer ranks 9th in the MIAA in earned run avearage (3.00) and is 7th in the MIAA in lowest opposing batting average (.250), 3rd in hits allowed (42), and 6th in runs allowed (19). Mike Nielebeck also ranks 5th in the MIAA in strikeouts (45).

In the field, Jeremiah Bryan is tied for the 1st in the MIAA in fielding percentage (1.000) and Drew Miller leads the MIAA in runners caught stealing (20).

SBU Rankings in the Nation
The Bearcats currently rank 31st in the nation in team batting average (.319), 5th in the nation in triples (16), and 33rd in the nation in number times being hit by a pitch (49).

Tyler Christophel currently ranks 5th in the nation in stolen bases (33) and 11th in runs scored (52). Cody Crutcher ranks 29th in the nation in triples (4).

Landon Young is the 50th hardest player to strike out in the NCAA, striking out once every 15.9 at bats.
