Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team collected 14 hits over a two game series, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats fell 3-4 in game one and 0-10 in game two. Tyler Christohpel,
Drew Miller,
Bo Helsel, and
Landon Young all collected multiple hits for the Bearcats.
In game one Central Missouri was the first to strike in the bottom of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats responded in the top of the third inning when Christophel came home on an rbi single to centerfield by
Drew Miller to tie the game up at 1-1. The Bearcats would add another run in the fourth when Young singled home
Brendon Cox to put SBU up 2-1. The Mules would respond with three unanswered runs over the next three innings, taking a 4-2 lead into the seventh. However the Bearcats were don't, as they loaded the bases with no outs. Helsel hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home Christophel, and pulling SBU within one at 4-3, but the Bearcats weren't able to get another run across the plate as Central Missouri claimed game one 4-3. The Mules also went on to win game two 10-0.
The Bearcats will return home on Friday, April 13 when they host the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri. First pitch for the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from Dodson Field.
