Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team had a tough match-up against #13 Missouri Western on Friday afternoon in Bolivar, dropping both games of the double-header 9-0 and 6-2.
The Bearcats collected hits from
Jennifer Martinez and
BreAnn Proctor in game one, while SBU put together multiple hits in game two threatening to upset the #13 team in the nation.
Missouri Western jumped out to an early 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second, but the Bearcats cut the lead in half when
Hailey Turner knocked a single through the right side to plate
Jessica Colliver. The Bearcats were able to tie up the game in the following inning when
Alandria Jensen push a bunt single over the pitcher bringing home Proctor. The Bearcats had solid defensive play from the corner positions, but Missouri Western would go to the 6-2 victory.
The Bearcats will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 10 when they host the Hornets of Emporia State. First pitch of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
