Autumn Lamle Leads Bearcats with Third Home Run of the Season Against Washburn

Topeka, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team took Washburn the distance on Friday afternoon in Topeka, but weren't able to come away with a victory, losing 6-5 in 12 innings. The Lady Blues then took game two 6-0.

In game one Washburn jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Bearcats quickly tied the game up at 1-1 in the third inning. With one out, Lamle blasted her third home run of the season. The Bearcats then added two more in the fourth inning off of back to back doubles from Taylor Atwood and Jessica Colliver, followed by an rbi single by Alandria Jensen to put SBU up 3-1. However, Washburn tied the game up at 3-3 with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The game then went into extra inning before the Bearcats would finally break the tie in the top of 12th. The Bearcats got two runs in the top of the 12th, one off of an rbi double from Kassy Williamson, the other off of a Lady Blues error. Washburn responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs, claiming a 6-5 victory. The Lady Blues pitching shut down the Bearcats in game two, defeating SBU 6-0.

SBU will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Fort Hays State with a match-up against the Lady Tigers. First pitch of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from Hays, Kansas.
