The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss is in his first season as the Bearcats head coach. Prior to coaching at SBU, Voss was an assistant coach at Division I Drake University where he helped lead his team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
Ron McHenry will begin his 12th season with the Lady Blues in 2011-12 just 10 wins short of reaching 300. After leading Washburn to a 22-7 record, second-place finish in the MIAA at 17-5 and 10th straight trip to the NCAA tournament, McHenry enters the year with a 290-60 (.828) record.
The Lady Blues lead the all-time series against the Bearcats 32-11.
SBU in the MIAA
LaKendra Smith currently leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds, averaging 6.8 boards per game, and is 2nd in the MIAA in total rebounds per game (8.6). Smith also ranks 6th in field goal percentage (48.4%) and 12th in points per game (13.1).
Chasity Prince is the leading three point percentage shooter in the conference at 54.8%, and
Brittney Dukes ranks 11th in points per game (13.3).
Scouting the Lady Blues
The Washburn Lady Blues come into the game against the SBU Bearcats with a 20-4 overall record, and 13-2 in conference play. The Lady Hornets are ranked #9 in the nation.
The Lady Blues offense is averaging 74.3 points per game, while their defense is allowing 54.9 points per game.
Ebonie Williams is the leading scorer for WU, averaging 15.3 points per game. The Lady Blues have two other players scoring in double figures: Stevi Schultz (11.1 ppg) and Cassie Lombardino (10.1 ppg).
