SBU Women Set to Travel to #21 Emporia State for a Match-up with the Lady Hornets

- The Bearcats hit the road for two games this week, starting off at #21 Emporia State on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 99.9 KBFL, and can be heard online at kbflfm.com. The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss is in his first season as the Bearcats head coach. Prior to coaching at SBU, Voss was an assistant coach at Division I Drake University where he helped lead his team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.

Jory Collins begins his second season as the coach of the Lady Hornets. In 2010-11 he led ESU to a 20-9 record and became the second MIAA coach to win 20 games and make the MIAA Tournament Championship Game.

The Lady Hornets lead the all-time series against the Bearcats 30-12.

SBU in the MIAA
LaKendra Smith currently leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds, averaging 6.8 boards per game, and is 2nd in the MIAA in total rebounds per game (8.6). Smith also ranks 6th in field goal percentage (47.7%). Chasity Prince is the leading three point percentage shooter in the conference at 56.1%. Brittney Dukes ranks 8th in points per game (13.9) in the MIAA.

Scouting the Lady Hornets
The Emporia State Lady Hornets come into the game against the SBU Bearcats with a 15-5 overall record, and 10-4 in conference play. The Lady Hornets are ranked #21 in the nation.

The Lady Hornets offense is averaging 69.3 points per game, while their defense is allowing 59.8 points per game.

Heather Robben is the leading scorer for ESU, averaging 14.3 points per game. The Lady Hornets have three other players scoring in double figures: Kelsey Balcome (12.5 ppg), Merissa Quick (11.1 ppg), and Rachel Hanf (10.7 ppg).
