LaKendra Smith finished off her SBU career on a strong individual note, posting 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, however the Bearcats lost to Missouri Western 86-69 Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Griffons jumped out early on the Bearcats, taking a 10 point lead five minutes into the game, and the Bearcats were never able to recover as Missouri Western went on to the 86-69 victory.
Smith had an excellent final performance for SBU, scoring a team high 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Brittney Dukes hit four three's for the Bearcats, scoring 17 points, and
Jacqui Zelenka (13) and
Chasity Prince (10) both scored in double figures.
As a team the Bearcats shot 37.1% from the field, 23.1% from beyond the arc, and 85.0% from the free throw line. The Bearcats out-rebounded the Lady Griffons 40-38 and had more bench points (15-13) and second chance points (15-13).
The Bearcats finish the season 9-17 and 4-16 in the MIAA.
