Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats picked up their third win of the season over Upper Iowa in the first game of a double-header today in Bolivar. Tyler Christophel blasted a three-run homerun to propel SBU to a 4-2 victory in game one. The Bearcats lost a heart-breaker in game two, 3-4.

In game one Upper Iowa jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before SBU bounced back in the bottom of the first. After a Jeremiah Bryan single, the Bearcats loaded the bases for Ross Wolfe. Wolfe singled, bringing home Bryan to tie the game up at 1-1. Upper Iowa scored another run in the fourth, but Tyler  Christophel blasted a three-run homerun in the bottom half of the fourth to put SBU up 4-2. Dustin Caplette would finish out the game, allowing only two hits, as SBU went on to a 4-2 victory.

In game two, SBU was the first to strike with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. After a lead-off triple by Landon Young, Tyler Christophel hit a single to left field plating Young. Christophel stole second, and reach to third on a error, before a fielder's choice brought him home to put SBU up 2-0. Upper Iowa responded with 4 straight runs to put SBU up 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Bearcats weren't done, as Ross Wolfe scored after hitting  a ground rule double, but the SBU comeback fell just short as the Bearcats lost their first game of the season.

SBU will be back in action on Friday, March 2 when they host Emporia State to open up MIAA play. First pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 12:00 p.m. from Dodson Field.
