The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss is in his first season as the Bearcats head coach. Prior to coaching at SBU, Voss was an assistant coach at Division I Drake University where he helped lead his team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
Lynn Plett is in his fifth season as head coach of the Missouri Western State University women's basketball program. In his first four seasons, Plett has led the Bearcats to a 39-69 record, with an appearance in the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri last season.
The Griffons leads the all-time series against the Bearcats 29-17.
SBU in the MIAA
LaKendra Smith currently leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds, averaging 6.9 boards per game, and is 2nd in the MIAA in total rebounds per game (9.0). Smith also ranks 6th in field goal percentage (45.0%) and 12th in points per game (12.8).
Chasity Prince is the leading three point percentage shooter in the conference at 51.9%, and
Brittney Dukes ranks 11th in points per game (13.5).
Scouting the Lady Griffons
The MWSU Lady Griffons come into the game against the SBU Bearcats with a 6-19 overall record, and 4-15 in conference play.
The Lady Griffons offense is averaging 64.9 points per game, while their defense is allowing 72.4 points per game.
Jessica Koch is the leading scorer for MWSU, averaging 21.8 points per game and grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game. Ashley Curry is the only other Griffon scoring in double-figures, averaging 15.8 points per game.
