SBU Women's Basketball Returns to MIAA Action by Hosting Fort Hays on Thursday

- The Bearcats continue MIAA action by hosting Fort Hays State on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 99.9 KBFL, and can be heard online at kbflfm.com. Fans can also follow live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/sbuniv/wbball/scoreboard.aspx

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss is in his first season as the Bearcats head coach. Prior to coaching at SBU, Voss was an assistant coach at Division I Drake University where he helped lead his team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.

Tony Hobson is in his fourth season as head coach of the Fort Hays State women's basketball program. In his first two seasons, Hobson led Fort Hays State to appearances in the MIAA Tournament.

The Bearcats lead the all-time series against the Lady Tigers 6-5.

SBU in the MIAA
LaKendra Smith currently leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds, averaging 6.9 boards per game, and is 2nd in the MIAA in total rebounds per game (9.0). Smith also ranks 6th in field goal percentage (46.9%) and 12th in points per game (12.6). Chasity Prince is the leading three point percentage shooter in the conference at 53.3%, and Brittney Dukes ranks 11th in points per game (13.3).

Scouting the Lady Tigers
The Lady Tigers come into the game against the Bearcats with a 17-7 overall record, and 9-7 in conference play.

The Lady Tigers offense is averaging 72.9 points per game, while their defense is allowing 58.7 points per game.

Katelyn Edwards is the leading scorer for FHSU, averaging 15.6 points per game and grabbing a team high 8.4 rebounds per game. Traci Keyser is the other Lady Tigers scoring in double figures, averaging 10.0 points per game.
