Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU men's basketball team lost a physical match-up against the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma on Saturday evening in Bolivar, dropping the contest 82-88.
Central Oklahoma jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead, but the Bearcats quickly responded in the first half. SBU would go on a 20-4 run to take a 25-15 lead, and maintain the lead going into halftime, up 38-32. The Bearcats were able to hold a small lead throughout most of the second half, but couldn't hold the Bronchos late surge, as they dropped the contest 82-88.
Gilbert Gyamfi led the Bearcats off of the bench with a career high 21 points in only 15 minutes played. The Bearcats supported a balanced offense with five different players scoring in double figures.
Damion Hooks gave SBU 15 points, while
Kyle Sloan and
Rashaad Brown-Peterson both added 12 points and 8 rebounds a piece, and
Preston Guiot chimed in with 10 points. As a team SBU shot 35.8% from the field, 22.2% from beyond the arc, and 83.9% from the free throw line.
SBU will be back in action on Monday, December 17 when they travel to Arkansas-Monticello for a non-conference match-up. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
