Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats are looking for their fourth straight victory on Saturday when the Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield come to town. The Bearcats are coming off of an impressive 85-45 victory over Harris-Stowe.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his second season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 120-50 (.706) career coaching record (12-18 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.
Chad Oletzke is in his first year at UIS after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at South Dakota State University where he helped guide the program to a Summit League regular season Championship, three straight Summit League Tournament Championships and three consecutive berths in the NCAA Tournament.
This is the first meeting between Southwest Baptist and Illinois-Springfield.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats have won three straight and now sit at 3-1 on the season. SBU is led in scoring and rebounding by
Jacqui Zelenka who averages 13.8 ppg and 8.0 rpg.
Tanis Spani and
Brook Duncan both come off of the bench for the Bearcats, averaging 12.0 ppg and 11.3 ppg respectively, while
Morgan Lucy averages 9.3 ppg and 6.0 rpg down low.
Scouting the Prairie Stars
Illinois-Springfield is coming off of their first win of the season after defeating Robert Morris-Springfield 60-47. The Prairie Stars are led in scoring by Megan Bergerud who averages 13.3 ppg. Down low Elizabeth Kelly is the Prairie Stars top rebounder, averaging 8.3 rpg, while also scoring 6.3 ppg.
