Rolla, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team continued their tough schedule on Saturday evening, losing to the Miners of Missouri S&T 61-75.
The Bearcats and Miners played a close first half, with Missouri S&T taking a slight 32-31 lead going into halftime, but Missouri S&T pulled away from the Bearcats en route to a 75-61 victory. The Bearcats had three players in double figures, and saw career highs from
Rashaad Brown-Peterson and
Damion Hooks, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Miners.
Jaywuan Hill was the leading scorer for SBU down low, giving the Bearcats 15 points off of 7 of 12 shooting from the field and added 7 rebounds. Brown-Peterson added 14 points with 3 steals, while Hooks had 12 points in the loss. As a team, SBU shot 43.4% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc, and 63.6% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will continue their road trip when they travel to Bellingham, Washington for the WWU Chuck Randall Classic on November 23-24. The Bearcats will start the tournament out by facing Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday, November 23 with the tip-off set for 4:30 p.m. CST.
