Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats are looking for their first victory of the 2012-13 season when Arkansas-Monticello visits on Thursday, November 15.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot in his ninth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 157-86 (.646) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Allen Sharpe enters his third season at UAM after leading the Boll Weevils to records of 14-13 and 21-9 in his first two seasons. Sharpe is coming off a third place finish in the inaugural season of the Great American Conference. Sharpe and the Boll Weevils were one shot away from reaching the finals of the league's first ever championship tournament last March.
SBU leads the all-time series against Arkansas-Monticello 2-0, with the last victory coming in the 2007-08 season.
Scouting the Bearcats
Through the first three games of play,
Jaywuan Hill leads the Bearcats in points and rebounds, averaging 11.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg.
Preston Guiot is averaging 9.7 ppg and a team high 5.0 assists per game, while
Kyle Sloan averages 6.7 ppg and 3.7 rpg.
Scouting the Weevils
Arkansas-Monticello opened up the 2012-13 season with an 87-65 victory over Champion Baptist. The Weevils were led in scoring by Michael Maya who had 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kori Forge also had 17 points and 7 rebounds in the win.
