SBU Women's Basketball Opens up 2012-13 Season at Drury

Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats will open up their 2012-13 season when they travel to Drury University to take on the Lady Panthers in the annual Bank of Bolivar 'Cat Fight.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his second season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 117-49 career coaching record (9-17 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.

Steve Harold is in his sixth seasons with the Lady Panthers. His Drury squads have compiled a 115-39 record (.747 winning percentage) since he arrived in Springfield in 2007 after a long and prosperous career at Glenville (W. Va.) State. Harold has helped the Lady Panthers extend their phenomenal streak of NCAA-II Tournament appearances and a fifth GLVC West title in the program's seven years as a league member.

Drury leads the all-time series against the Bearcats 28-22, with SBU winning the last two match-ups which have both occured in Bolivar.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU returns 5 players from last year's squad, including four starters. Brittney Dukes led the Bearcats in scoring last season, averaging 13.6 points per game. Jacqui Zelenka is the only other returner to average double-digits points last season at 10.9, while Chasity Prince averaged 9.4 ppg shooting 51.4% from the field and 49.0% from beyond the arc.

Scouting the Lady Panthers
Drury returns 9 players from last years 20-10 squad, including 3 starters. They return their top two point scorers in Bethanie Funderburk (15.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Katie Pritchard (11.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg).
