Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team played a tough game against #12 Central Missouri, losing the contest 3-1 in a shootout, after tying the Jennies 2-2 through 2 overtimes.
The Bearcats were the first to jump on the scoreboard in the 16th minute when
Karla Jamison when
Amy Bolton sent a corner kick into the box where Jamison put it in the net to give SBU a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 20 minutes into the second half before UCM would add two goals within five minutes of each other to take the 2-1 lead. The Jennies wouldn't hold the lead for long, as
Karla Jamison scored her second goal of the night less than two minutes later, tying the game up at 2-2. The game would remain tied through two overtimes, forcing a kickoff to decide who would advance to the second round of the MIAA tournament.
After UCM made their first penalty kick,
Camala James made her penalty kick to tie it up at 1-1. Central Missouri would make two of their next three kicks, while the Bearcats were unable to put another one in the net, as UCM won the penalty kicks 3-1 to take the game. The Bearcats finished the 2012 season with a 7-9-3.
