10/27/2012 4:41:00 PM

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker against Truman State on Saturday afternoon 2-1. The Bearcats will now have to wait and see if they will make it into the MIAA postseason tournament.

The Bearcats came out and were ready to play on senior day in Bolivar. It was a tough defensive battle throughout most of the first half until SBU was able to strike first in the 36th minute of play. Kate Jamison crossed the ball into the box which was headed into the net by Ashley Creason to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. SBU would take that lead into halftime, but shortly after the break the Bulldogs tied up the game at 1-1. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, the Bearcat defense was trying to clear a ball out but mis-headed a ball which found the back of their own net, giving Truman a 2-1 lead. The Bulldogs would go on to claim the 2-1 victory.

The Bearcats finished the regular season 7-9-2 (4-6-2 MIAA) and will wait and see if they earned a spot in the MIAA Postseason Tournament. The field will be announced Sunday evening, with the tournament being on Tuesday, October 31st at four different host schools.
