Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team split their matches between Alabama-Huntsville and #5 Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, defeating Alabama-Huntsville 3-1 after falling to #5 UNK 0-3.
In the nightcap against Alabama-Huntsville the Bearcats took the first two sets 25-20, 25-16 before losing set three 22-25, and then finishing off UAH 25-22 to claim the victory. Sarah Fincher,
Jordan Nedbalek, and Whitney Gibson all had double digit kills for SBU with Fincher having 14, Nedbalek 13, and Gibson 10. The Bearcats also had three ladies in double figure for digs with
Kaitlyn Allison leading the way with 15 followed by
Hannah Blount with 11 and Briana Goforth with 10.
Whitney Miller and
Kelsey Fankhauser split the setting duties with Miller collecting 27 assists and Fankhauser 15.
In the first game of the day, the Bearcats fell to the Lopers 25-2, 25-14, 25-16. Allison added 12 digs in the loss.
The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow, October 20, when they host Fort Hays. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
