Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University (6-5-2, 3-2-2 MIAA) women's soccer team earned a tough MIAA win on Thursday afternoon, taking down Northeastern State (9-3, 5-3 MIAA) 2-1 in Bolivar.
The Bearcats were the first to strike within the first sixth minutes of the game when
Karla Jamison knocked in a pass from
Ashley Creason into the bottom right corner of the net at the 5:45 mark to give SBU a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats would go into halftime with the 1-0 lead before Northeastern State would strike back at the 52:01 mark from a goal by Rachel Gleason.
The Bearcats responded well when
Ashley Creason was able to guide a free kick into the top right corner of the net to put SBU up 2-1. The Bearcats would hold the lead and go on to the 2-1 victory.
Megan Link collected 7 saves in goal while NSU out shot SBU 16-15.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, October 13 when they host #19 Central Oklahoma. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
