SBU Men's Soccer Rides Defense in 1-1 Tie Against Harding

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team scored their first conference points of the 2012 season with a 1-1 tie against Harding on Thursday afternoon. The Bearcats had an excellent defensive showing, allowing only four shots during the first half.

After a scoreless first half, Harding was the first to strike at the 51:05 mark in the game to take a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 until the 89:27 mark. Harding would commit a foul in the box, giving SBU a penalty shot with only 33 seconds left. Kaleb Romero took the shot, which the goalie blocked, but then Romero knocked in the rebound to tie the game up a 1-1. SBU and Harding would hold even for both overtimes with the game ending in a 1-1 tie.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 13th when they host Northeastern State. The game is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
