Preston Guiot added 14 points, Kyle Sloan added 11, and Jeremy Nolen gave the Bearcats a nice spark off the bench, grabbing a career high 7 rebounds.

"We really did a good job on the boards," senior guard Ryan Dougherty commented. "That's one thing Washburn does really well, they attack the offensive glass. One of the keys we had to focus on was keeping them off the glass and out of the paint as much as we could. We did a good job of pulling down boards and that's really what did it for us tonight."

As a team, SBU shot 36.5% from the field, 29.7% from beyond the arc, and 63.9% from the free throw line. The Bearcats were dominate on the boards, out-rebounding the Ichabods 48-33. The Bearcats also had twice as many assists (16-8) and forced 8 turnovers in the victory.

"We played extremely aggressive," head coach Jeff Guiot commented. "This was our best rebounding night, and our best defensive game in a while. We've lost five heartbreakers, but the kids keep fighting hard and keep believing they want to do the right thing. It's nice to see them rewarded for their efforts. Ryan Dougherty's defense was really good down the stretch. He played 39 minutes for us, guarding their best player. He is a first class individual."

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, January 7 when they travel to Hays, Kansas to take on #9 Fort Hays State. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
