Ryan Dougherty Sets SBU Record and Has New Career High Against Central Missouri

- Southwest Baptist University guard, Ryan Dougherty, had a record setting night against Central Missouri on Saturday night in Bolivar, however the Bearcats fell to the Mules 91-80. Dougherty set the all-time three point record when he hit his 190th three point basket in the first half of the game.

The game between the Bearcats and Mules was a physical battle, with the Mules taking a slight 37-35 advantage going into halftime. The Bearcats would hang around with the Mules for most of the second half, before being forced to foul at the end of the game and dropping the contest 91-80.

Ryan Dougherty was outstanding for the Bearcats, scoring a new career high 35 points off of 11 of 16 shooting from the field while hitting 6 three point baskets. Dougherty's current SBU record stands at 195 three point baskets made in his career. Dougherty put the Bearcats on his back, but the comeback fell just short. Preston Guiot added 12 and Kyle Sloan added 10 in the loss.

As a team, the Bearcats shot 43.3% from the field, 39.3% from three, and 63.0% from the free throw line. The Mules out-rebounded the Bearcats 34-33, while SBU forced 16 turnovers.

"Ryan played his tail off tonight," head coach Jeff Guiot commented after the game. "He brought his A game, he tried to carry us tonight, and I'm really proud of his effort."

The Bearcats will be back in action on Wednesday, January 25 when they travel to Jefferson City, Missouri with a match-up against the Tigers of Lincoln. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
