SBU Men Return Home to Host Missouri Western on Tuesday

- The Bearcats return home for two games this week, starting off against Missouri Western on Tuesday, January 17. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 99.9 KBFL, and can be heard online at kbflfm.com. The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his eighth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 149-79 (.654) record. Coach Guiot has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Missouri Western head men's basketball coach Tom Smith begins his 24th season at Missouri Western and his 37th season as a collegiate head coach in 2011-12. Smith boasts a career collegiate coaching record of 599-429.

Missouri Western leads the all-time series against SBU 46-27.

SBU Record Watch
SBU Head Coach Jeff Guiot has become the winningest coach in SBU history with his victory over Washburn University on January 3. Coach Guiot has collected 149 wins over his eight seasons as head coach.

SBU guard Ryan Dougherty has scored 1,072 points in his career as a Bearcat, and currently ranks 10th all-time on the SBU scoring list. Dougherty is currently 2nd all time for three-point baskets made with 187, and is 3 three-pointers away from a new SBU school record. Dougherty also currently ranks 9th in assists (264) and 7th in steals (117) in the SBU record books.

Scouting the Griffons
Missouri Western comes into the game against the Bearcats with a 6-9 record and 1-8 in the MIAA. The Griffons are coming off of a 64-48 loss at Central Missouri.

On the season, MWSU's scoring offense averages 65.1 points per game and their defense allows 66.4 points per game.

TJ Johnson is the leading Griffon scorer this season, averaging 13.8 points per game. James Harris averages 11.9 points per game, while Lavonte Douglas averages 11.6 points per game, and a team high 6.9 rebounds per game.
