Maryville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team played a back and forth battle against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon, but came up short in the contest, losing 79-68.
The Bearcats spread out the offense, with six different players scoring at least 8 points, with
Jacqui Zelenka scoring a team high 15 points while grabbing 6 rebounds.
Brittney Dukes and
Kaitlan Cramer both scored 9 for the Bearcats, while
Kayla Hruby,
Ashlee Pitts, and
LaKendra Smith all added 8. Smith also added a game high 12 rebounds in the loss. As a team the Bearcats shot 44.3% from the field, 38.1% from beyond the arc, and 60.0% from the free throw line. The Bearcats of Southwest Baptist out-rebounded the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri 39-31 and provided more points in the paint (28-21).
The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, January 17 when they host the Griffons of Missouri Western. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Meyer Wellness Center in Bolivar, Mo.
