Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats had no problems with the visiting Patriots of Baptist Bible, claiming a 112-56 victory in Bolivar on Tuesday night. The Bearcats had six players in double figures in the win.
The Bearcats jumped all over the Patriots from the beginning, going on a 26-0 run to open up the game, and never looked back. The Bearcats took a halftime lead of 60-18, and went on to a 112-56 victory. The Bearcats had a season high six players in double figures, supporting many new career high's.
Ricky Odige led the way for the Bearcats, recording his first career double-double with new career high's in points (18), rebounds (10) and steals (5).
Kyle Sloan also gave SBU 18 points off of six of eight shooting from three, along with dishing out a career high eight assists in the win.
Daveion Zellner,
Robson Memnon,
Abner Kamps, and
Christian Pellot all gave SBU a strong inside presence, with Zellner scoring 16, Memnon 10, Kamps 7, and Pellot a career high 8.
Preston Guiot added 12 points with 4 assists and
Jeremy Nolen had a career high 14 points for the Bearcats.
As a team, SBU shot 51.2% from the field and 48.8% from beyond the arc. The Bearcats had more rebounds (57-33), assists (32-12), steals (12-6), and blocks (4-1) than the Patriots, while forcing 22 turnovers.
"We had all of our guys down there fighting for rebounds," assistant coach Deon Davis commented about the advantage the Bearcats had on the boards. "We let them know that rebounds are very important, and it's not all about points but rebounds are just as important."
The Bearcats will hit the road on Saturday, January 14 when they travel to Northwest Missouri for a match-up with the Bearcats. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. from Maryville.
