SBU Volleyball Set to Host Southwest Baptist Purple Bash

Bolivar, Mo.
- The SBU Bearcats will open up home play this weekend as they host the 2011 Purple Bash in Bolivar. The Bearcats will host a tournament featuring 12 schools, with four MIAA members, and open up MIAA play.

The Bearcats began their season last weekend when they traveled to Canyon, Tex. for the Lady Buff Classic. The Bearcats came away with a record of 3-1, winning their last three games.

Senior Kylie Heim continues to lead the Bearcats, with an average of 2.35 kills per set,with a hitting percentage of .226. Heim also leads SBU is total blocks with 22.

Defensively, the Bearcats are solid with Alyx Glover and Britni Reed leading the way for the Bearcats. Glover averages 3.65 digs per set, while Reed averages 3.06. The Bearcats continue their sound defense by recording receiving percentages of .988 for Glover, .957 for Caitlyn Muder and Kristi Hager, and .949 for Britni Reed.

The Bearcats have four games during the tournament. The first game will be against Southern Arkansas at 2:00 p.m., followed by SBU's MIAA opener against Fort Hays State at 6:30 p.m.
