Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats had their home opener on Monday afternoon in Bolivar against Missouri S&T, and came away with a 0-0 tie. The Bearcats defense was able to hold the Lady Miners to zero goals.
The Bearcat defense was once again lead by goalkeeper,
Megan Link, who recorder her first shutout on the season, coming away with nine saves. The Bearcats had 11 shots during the game, but unfortunately came away with no goals.
"This was a step in the right direction," head soccer coach Robert Podeyn stated. "The season is a marathon, not a sprint. We should have had a win today, but S&T came out to play on their season opener. I was very pleased with our defense, and we have a lot ot build upon this year."
The Bearcats will be back in action on Thursday, September 8 when they travel to Midwestern State (Tex.) for a 7:00 start.
