Topeka, Kan. - The SBU Bearcats volleyball team started off the Washburn Lady Blues Fall Classic with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Dallas Baptist. After winning the first set 25-22, DBU battled back and took the second and third sets 25-20, before SBU completed their great comeback, taking set four 25-20 and set five 15-13.
The Bearcats continue to have impressive play from Britini Reed, who recorded another double-double, coming away from the contest with a team high 21 kills and 36 digs for the Bearcats. SBU also had strong performances offensively from
Carrie Johnson and
Kylie Heim who had 17 and 12 kills respectively. Defensively,
Alyx Glover provided 29 digs,
Kristi Hager 20, and
Caitlyn Muder had 16.
In SBU's second game of the day, the Bearcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but Central Oklahoma was able to come back with a 3-1 victory. Once again Reed lead the Bearcats in kills, with 15, and also recorded 12 digs in the contest.
SBU will conclude the Washburn Lady Blues Fall Class tomorrow in Topeka. SBU is set to play Angelo State at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 5:00 p.m. matchup against Tarleton State.
