SBU Soccer to Travel to UCM and Host Washburn This Week

Game Notes

Bolivar, Mo.
-- The SBU Bearcats will open play this week against conference opponent Central Missouri, and then conclude the week with a conference match-up against Washburn Saturday. SBU will look to push their record to 3-6-1 with a pair of victories this week. The Bearcats competed in two competitive game last week, but were not able to hold on for the win in either competition. Kelly Isaac lead the SBU scoring attack against Truman State and Oral Roberts last week with three goals and looks to continue her success this week in conference play.

The Coaches
Bearcat head coach Rob Podeyn enters his third season, and looks to further improve a program that last year went 6-9-3. Over his first two years, Podeyn has recorded a career mark of 13-18-6. Rob Podeyn became the eighth head coach in SBU history when he accepted the position. He joined the Bearcats after serving as director of soccer operations, assistant sports information director and head women's soccer coach at Northwood University, positions he held since 2006.

Lewis Theobald is in his fifth season as head coach at Central Missouri with a carrer record of 60-14-8. Theobald lead his team to a 16-0 MIAA record in the 2010, capturing the conference title.

Tim Collins is in his 9th season at Washburn this year, and has led the Lady Blues to two NCAA regional tournament appearances in the last four season.

Scouting the Opponents
Central Missouri is coming into Thursday game with a five game winning streak and ranked number 15 in the nation. Their one loss this season came to Dallas Baptist back on September 8th. The Jennies have given up only two goal this season while accumulating 20 goals for a 7-1 record.

Washburn looks to get back on the winning track as they travel to Bolivar this weekend. The Lady blues dropped their last game to Emporia State 1-0 after a 2-0 win against Fort Hays State last Thursday. Washburn looks to open up their offence Saturday verses the Bearcats lead by their leading scorer this year Leah Talley.
