Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU volleyball team started the second day of the Purple Bash with a tough battle against Lindenwood, coming up just short, dropping the match in four sets. After starting the game by splitting the first two sets, SBU came up just short in the final two sets, losing the match 3-1.
After dropping the first set 14-25, the Bearcats battled hard for a victory in the second set 26-24, lead by a strong performance by
Britni Reed and
Whitney Miller. Reed lead SBU with 15 kills in the match with
Jenna Isaacs and
Kylie Heim close behind with 10 kills. Miller recorded 34 assists in the match.
In the second match of the day the Bearcats took each set to the wire, but fell short, losing in four sets to the University of Central Oklahoma.
Britni Reed once again lead the Bearcats with a strong performance, compiling 16 kills and 20 digs.
Kylie Heim had 11 kills with an excellent attack percent of .323. As a team, SBU had 5 blocks and 2 service aces.
SBU is back in action on September 14, 2011 in Bolivar when they take on Baker University at 3 p.m.
