Bolivar, Mo.
- The SBU Bearcats battled the Lions of Missouri Southern today in Bolivar. The Bearcats had some impressive plate appearances, including three home runs in game two, but fell short in both contests.

In game one, Phillip Davolt started the game strong for the Bearcats. Davolt was pitching dominant, going 1.2 innings while facing the minimum, before pulling himself out of the game with an elbow injury. Missouri Southern would immediately take advantage, scoring a run in the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. Southern would add another run in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to come away with a 5-0 victory.

In game two, Mike Nielbeck took the mound for the Bearcats. Missouri Southern was first to get on the scoreboard, putting up one run in the third and fourth innings to lead 2-0. In the bottom of the fifth, Cody Crutcher blasted a solo homerun to left field, to cut the Lions lead to 2-1. Southern responded in the top half of the sixth inning and pushed the lead to 4-1. But the Bearcats weren't done battling, as Paden Grubbs hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 4-2. The score would remain until the top of the ninth when Missouri Southern added a couple of insurance runs, taking a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth. SBU began their comeback when Brendon Cox singled to left field with one out. Dominic Bouvier then hamered a two-run homerun to dead center, to cut the lead to 6-4. SBU was able to get on the scoreboard again, and lost the second game of the double-header 6-4.

SBU will close out their four game series with the Lions on Saturday, April 30 at Dodson Field. Opening pitch for Senior Day is set for 12:00 p.m.
