Warrensburg, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats traveled to Warrensburg, Missouri to face the #5 Mules of Central Missouri. Paden Grubbs had a solid day from the plate, blasting a two-run homerun.
In game one of the double-header, SBU started things off right when Paden Grubbs blasted a two-run homerun in the top of the first inning to give SBU an early 2-0 lead. Central Missouri was quick to respond with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first to cut the lead to 2-1. SBU responded in the top of the third after a Nigel Morton double and stolen base, as he came home off of an error committed by Central Missouri. The Bearcats held a 3-2 edge going into the bottom of the fourth inning before Central Missouri would put up eight runs in the fourth, and seven more in the fifth to blow the game open. Central Missouri would take game one, 19-3.
In game two Central Missouri jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after one inning, but SBU was able to cut into that lead in the top of the fourth. Grubbs was able to bring home Jacob Estes during a double-play to cut the lead to 3-1. Central Missouri would add insurance runs the next three innings, and cruise to a 10-1 victory.
SBU will return home on Friday, April 29 when they host Missouri Southern in a four-game series to close out the home season for the Bearcats. Saturday, April 30 will be senior day, so be sure to come out and support your senior Bearcats. Opening pitch for the double-header for both days is set for 1:00 p.m.
