Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats softball team battled the Lady Blues of Washburn in a stormy day in Bolivar. SBU once again saw a solid pitching performance from
Josie Rose, but came up short in both games.
Rose took the circle for the Bearcats in game two of the double-header in Bolivar. The score remain tied 0-0 until the top of the third inning when the Lady Blues would put three runs up on the scoreboard, with the help of an SBU error, to give Washburn a 3-0 lead. SBU responded in the bottom half of the inning with smart baserunning by
Alandria Jensen. After reaching first on a fielder's choice, Jensen stole second and third, and came home on a throwing error by the catcher. Rose would buckle down and not allow another run for the remainder of the game, until lightning would strike and cause the game to be called after six innings, giving Washburn a 3-1 victory.
In game one Washburn put up twelve runs through innings two through four, and ended up coming away with a 12-0 five inning game victory over SBU.
SBU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Fort Hays State on Bearcat senior day. Opening pitch for the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. so be sure to come out and support your Bearcat seniors.
