Kansas City, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats baseball team travled to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst in a one nine inning game on Tuesday night. The Bearcats did a great job of manufacturing runs, and spreading out the offense. Five different Bearcats had an rbi, while eight of the nine starters reached based safely in the game.
Rockhurst was first to get on the scoreboard, putting up one run in the bottom of the first inning. However, SBU responded with three of their own runs in top of third. With Tyler Christophel on first base, Landon Young doubled down the left field line, bringing Christophel home. Nigel Morton then doubled to left center, knocking home Young, followed by an rbi single by Paden Grubbs to give SBU a 3-1 lead. Rockhurst faught back, scoring four runs in the third, three runs in the fourth, four runs in the sixth, and three runs in the seventh to give themselves a 15-3 going into the eighth inning. SBU was able to manufacture three more runs off of
Cody Crutcher and Christophel rbi's, but it wasn't enough as Rockhurst defeated SBU 17-6.
Next up the Bearcats will resume MIAA play as they travel to Hays, Kansas to take on Fort Hays State. The four game series is set to begin on Friday, April 15 with a double-header starting at 4:30, followed by a 12:00 double-header start on Saturday.
