Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats hosted the Truman State Bulldogs in Friday afternoon doubleheader. SBU played a tough two games, and stuck with the Bulldogs in game one of the double-header but lost the contest 2-0. In game two, Truman State came away with a 12-0 victory.

In game one, Mike Nicks took the mound for the Bearcats, and produced a solid outing. Nicks threw a complete game, scattering 8 hits over 7 innings and giving up two earned runs. Nicks struck out four, while walking none, but came away with a loss as Truman State defeated SBU 2-0.

In the second game of the double-header, Truman jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the third inning, and never looked back, defeating SBU 12-0. Errors really cost the Bearcats, with only 4 of the 12 runs being charged as earned. SBU starting pitcher, Mike Nielebeck pitched 6.1 innings, allowing six runs (zero earned) off of eight hits while striking out two.

SBU will continue their series with the Bulldogs tomorrow afternoon in Bolivar. Opening pitch of the double-header is set for 12:00 p.m.
