Pittsburg, Kan.
- The SBU Bearcat baseball team was back in action yesterday evening to finish out the four game series with the Gorillas. SBU had a strong pitching effort from Phillip Davolt, and timely hitting from Niko Saladis, but the Bearcats fell short in both games, 2-6 and 3-4. Saladis went 1-2 in the opener and 2-4 in the nightcap, extending his hitting streak to 16 games.

In game one of the double-header, Pitt State got on the scoreboard first by scoring two in the second, third, and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead. SBU was able to generate some offense, responding with two runs in the top off of an rbi single by Landon Young and a sacrifice fly by Tyler Christophel, but SBU came up short in the ballgame, losing 6-2.

The nightcap between the Gorillas and Bearcats turned into a pitching dual. SBU sent Davolt to the mound where he pitched five solid innings, giving up two runs, one earned, off of five hits. Pitt State would jump out to an early 2-0 lead by scoring runs in the bottom of the first and fourth innings, but SBU would respond in the top of the fifth. The first three Bearcats safely reached base in the fifth inning, when Jeremiah Bryan singled to right center to bring home Dominic Bouvier and cut the lead to 3-1. After an error by Pitt State, the bases were loaded when Young drew a walk, bringing home Cody Crutcher. Next up, Saladis had an infield single to third base, bringing home the third Bearcat run, and gave SBU a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Pitt State would tie up the ballgame in the bottom of the sixth, and eventually would score the go ahead run in the bottom of the ninth to seal a 4-3 victory.

SBU will return home on Friday, April 1 to host Truman State University. Opening pitch for game one of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m.
