SBU Softball Traveled to Emporia to Take on #25 Emporia State

Emporia, Kan. - The SBU Softball team traveled to Emporia, Kansas on Friday afternoon to take on the #25 Lady Hornets. It was a tough match-up for the Bearcats, as they lost both contests, falling 0-19 and 0-8.

In the first game on the double-header Karly Bitters took the circle for the Bearcats. Bitters struck out three batters in the contest, as the Lady Hornets jumped out an early 4-0 lead after two innings. Emporia would add 8 more in the third, and seven in the fourth to come away with an 19-0 victory over SBU.

In the second game of the double-header Josie Rose started the game for the Bearcats. Rose contiues to strike out batters at a great rate, striking out five batters in only 4.1 innings pitched. Devon McNeal also saw her first action from the circle on the season pitching 0.2 innings in the game.  Emporia State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, and never looked back, claiming an 8-0 victory.

SBU is back in action on Tuesday, March 29 as they host Northeastern State University. Opening pitch for game one of the double-header is set for 2:00 p.m.
