Springfield, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats men's and women's tennis teams battled Washburn today at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri. The SBU men defeated the Ichabods 8-1, while the Bearcat women dropped the match to the Lady Blues 4-5.

Domingos Carissimo, Jorge Margiotta, Jorge Palacios, Daniel Cardona, and Juan Estepa were all victorious in their singles matches against Washburn.  SBU was also able to sweep the Ichabods in doubles to secure an 8-1 victory. On the women's side, Mehak Singh, Adrienne Kovacs, Faiga Schmidt, and Jenna Hendrickson all won singles matches, while Washburn swept the doubles matches and defeat the Bearcats 5-4. Singh moves to 10-0 in singles matches this season with her victory over Morgan Rainey.

Next up SBU will travel to Kansas City to take on the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Monday, March 21, with the match set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
