Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box

Emporia, Kan.
- The SBU Bearcats team once again played well at Emporia against the #1 Hornets. Niko Saladis contributed hits in both of the contests, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

In game one of the double-header, SBU got on the board quickly, scoring four runs in the first inning. Niko Saladis, Jacob Estes, Dominic Bouvier, and Jeremiah Bryan all had RBI singles in the inning, helping SBU piece together four runs. However, Emporia responded in the bottom half of the fourth with four runs of their own. After the outburst of offense displayed by both team in the first inning, pitching would take over the ballgame for the next five innings. Neither team would score again until the top of the seventh when SBU would score two runs: one off of an RBI double by Saladis, the other off of an RBI single by Estes. However, Emporia would once again respond in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs of their own to win the game 7-6.

The second game of the double-header started out different as Emporia jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on SBU. SBU would score one run in the fifth before Emporia would add another two runs, and take a 5-1 lead. The Bearcats wouldn't give up, responding with three of their own runs in the top of the sixth inning, cutting the lead to 5-4.  However, the offense of Emporia was too much as they came away with a game two victory with the final score of 7-4.  SBU played right with the #1 Emporia State Hornets the entire weekend, losing four games by a total of 6 runs, including 3 one run losses.

The Bearcats baseball team will be back in action next weekend on Friday (March 25) and Saturday (March 26) as they travel to Pittsburg, Kansas to take on Pittsburg State. Both days will feature double-headers, with a 4:00 p.m. Friday start, and a 1:00 p.m. Saturday start.
