Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU men's tennis team opened up MIAA play in impressive form, defeating Emporia State 9-0. The Bearcats played well from top to bottom, winning every match in both singles and doubles without being forced to a third set in any matches.

On the women's side, SBU had some impressive wins in singles by Mehak Singh and Faiga Schmidt, and two doubles victories from Singh/Schmidt and Adrienn Kovacs/Jenna Hendrickson.  However, the Bearcats fell to Emporia 4-5 in the women's second MIAA match-up this season. Singh now pushes her singles record on the season to 8-0, while the team of Singh/Schmidt won their fourth straight doubles match on the year.

Next up SBU will host Washburn University on Saturday, March 19, 2011. The matches begin at 10:00 a.m. from the John A. Bryant Tennis Center in Bolivar.
