2/8/2011 10:12:11 PM

Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU men were able to push their home game win streak to 4 with a victory over Emporia State, 79-66 in Bolivar on Saturday night.  SBU was impressive on both ends of the court, leading by as many as 22 in the second half.  "I'm proud of how our guys bounced back after the Truman game" head coach Jeff Guiot stated of his team, "tonight was a great effort."

The Bearcats had 4 players in double figures, and were once again lead by a spectacular performance by Ryan Dougherty. "Ryan had a pretty impressive night" coach Guiot said of his junior guard.  Dougherty scored a game high 17 points, had 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and did not commit a turnover.  Dougherty shot 70.0% from the field, and 50.0% from beyond the arc. Kurt Koening added 16 points, his 7th double digit performance in the last 9 games, and grabbed 7 rebounds. "Tonight I thought Kurt had one of his better games" coach Guiot stated, "defensively he played well and he lead our team in rebounding."

Complimenting Dougherty and Koenig were the big men down low.  Robson Memnon had a career high 15 points, while Stephen Cotten scored 10 points and had 6 rebounds.

Coach Guiot was happy with how his team performed, and is optimistic about the remainder of their season: "We have a bunch of guys that can bust their tail off and be unselfish.  When they do that they can beat anyone."

The Bearcats will look to push their home game win streak to 5 on Saturday February 12, 2011 as they take on Washburn.  Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m., with SBU Honors Night following the game at Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
