Kirksville, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University was able to cut a 22 point deficit to 4 late in the second half, but fell to Truman State University, 68-80 in Kirksville.
The Bearcats were lead by junior
Ryan Dougherty who posted his first double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down a career high 12 rebounds. Senior
Kurt Koenig played well for the second game in a row, scoring 19 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Sophomore
Stephen Cotten scored 11 points while making a season high 3 three pointers, and freshman
Lane Barlow also contributed 11 points in the loss.
The Bearcats had more offensive rebounds (15) than the Bulldogs (5) and were able to force 12 turnovers, while only turning the ball over 8 times. As a team, SBU shot a season high 81 attempts from the floor.
SBU will return home to defend their 3 game home winning streak on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 when they face Emporia State University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
