Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women played a tough, back and forth battle with Pittsburg State, but lost 58-67 Thursday night in Bolivar.

The Bearcat women were lead by junior guard, Jaquavia Coach.  Coach posted SBU's first double-double game Thursday night, scoring 17 points, on 8 of 13 shooting from the field, and pulling down a career high 10 rebounds. Couch also had 2 assists and 1 steal. 3 other Bearcat women scored in double figures: Jacqui Zelenka posted 15 points, Ashleigh Gallio scored 11 points, and Lakendra Smith contributed 10 points.  "We had some good post touches in the first half tonight" head coach J.C. Carter stated after the game.

From the field, SBU shot 40.0%, forced 14 turnovers, and captured 8 steals.  SBU dominated the paint, outscoring the Gorillas 34-14.

Coach Carter believes the season is long but over.  "We are capable of putting a run together to get to the [MIAA] tournament," he stated, "at times we play great basketball, and we have had some great games."

SBU will look to continue to climb up the MIAA rankings when they play at Truman State University on Saturday February 5, 2011. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
