Maryville, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University lost a tough game at Northwest Missouri on Wednesday night, 77-87. The Bearcats were able to pull within 3 multiple times in the final minutes, but Northwest was able to hang on to secure the victory.
Senior
Kurt Koenig lead the way for the Bearcats with 21 points, off of 6 for 11 shooting from the field, and pulled down a team high 6 rebounds. In addition to Koenig, the Bearcats had 3 other players score in double figures. Senior
Tomas Brock returned to action scoring 16 points and dished out a season high 8 assists. Junior
Ryan Dougherty scored 11 points, and freshman
Lane Barlow contributed 10 points, while shooting a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc.
As a team, SBU had more points off turnovers (15-9), fast break points (10-4), second chance points (16-14), and bench points (40-14). SBU shot 41.7% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc, and 75.0% from the stripe.
"Hopefully Bearcat fans will come out and support the guys and propel them to the MIAA Tournament," head coach Jeff Guiot stated after the game. The next, and final regular season game for the Bearcats is on Saturday, February 26 when the Bearcats host Missouri Western. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from Meyer Sports Center.
