Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats return home for a match-up against the Gorillas of Pittsburg State in search of their first MIAA victory. The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss is in his first season as the Bearcats head coach. Prior to coaching at SBU, Voss was an assistant coach at Division I Drake University where he helped lead his team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
Lane Lord enters his fourth season as head women's basketball coach at Pittsburg State University. In his first three seasons, Lord has worked to build the Pitt State women's basketball into a fast-paced, fan friendly program.
The Gorillas lead the all-time series against the Bearcats 26-24.
Scouting the Gorillas
The Gorillas come into the weekend with a 9-0 overall record, and 3-0 in conference play. Pittsburg State is coming off of a 84-63 win over Northwest Missouri.
In the MIAA, PSU is ranked 2nd in total offense, averaging 81.8 points per game, and defensively they are ranked 7th allowing 61.6 points per game.
Larissa Richards is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Gorillas, averaging 13.9 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. Pittsburg State has three others averaging double-digits on offense; Lizzy Jeronimus (12.4), Brooke Conley (12.2), and Drew Roberts (10.7).
