Kirksville, Mo. -
Kaitlan Cramer and
Rani Brandon both posted career high's in points on Wednesday at Truman, but the Bearcats dropped the contest 79-54.
The Bearcats opened up the game with a three by
Chasity Prince, but Truman State quickly responded by taking a double-digit lead and eventually came away with a 79-54 victory. The Bearcats had two players in double figures, with
Kaitlan Cramer posting a new career high with 11 points, and
Brittney Dukes added 12 in the loss.
Rani Brandon also had a career high scoring effort for SBU with 9 points. As a team, the Bearcats shot 38.1% from the field, a season high 54.5% from beyond the arc, and 76.2% from the free throw line.
"I thought we did a better job on the boards," head coach Todd Voss commented after the game. "However, we need to improve defensively and in a number of different areas. We are a little beat up, but injuries are part of the game. You hope you don't have them, but sometimes you do. Missing [
Jacqui Zelenka and
LaKendra Smith] is a big deal, but as a team you have to play through those injuries. I thought
Rani Brandon came in and gave us a spark in the post. She did some good things; she had nine points and was able to get to the free throw line. I think we can expect to see more good things from her in the future."
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, December 10 when they host Pittsburg State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center. Be sure to follow SBU AD
