The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his eighth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 145-76 (.656) record. Coach Guiot has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Former NBA 1st round draft pick, Shaun Vandiver, takes over the Emporia State Hornets basketball program to start the 2011-12 year.
The Bearcats lead the all-time series against the Hornets 25-17.

Scouting the Hornets
Emporia State comes into the game against the Bearcats with an 7-3 record, and 3-1 in MIAA conference play. The Hornets are coming off of a 60-59 victory over Truman State.
On the season, ESU's scoring offense, averages 66.0 points per game and their defense allows 67.4 points per game.
Derrell Conner is the leading scorer for the Hornets, averaging 12.1 points per game. ESU has two other players scoring in double figures: Tola Lawal (11.8) and Chris Sights (11.5). Troy Pierce is the leading rebounder for ESU grabbing 7.3 boards per game, while Taylor Euhler is dishing out a team high 2.8 assists per game.
