- The SBU Bearcats women's basketball team played extremely well against undefeated Pittsburg State on Saturday night in Bolivar, but came up just short in the contest, dropping the game 78-72. The Bearcats had three in double figures, and shot over 50% in the loss.

The Bearcats battled throughout the entire game, trailing by as many as 11 in the first half, before cutting the halftime deficit to five at 41-36. SBU came out strong to start the second half, evening up the score at 41 a piece. The two teams would go back and forth for the entire second half before Pittsburg State would take a 10 point lead late. SBU would continue to fight, but the comeback bid wasn't enough, as they dropped the game 78-72.

The Bearcats had one of their strongest performances of the season as a team, shooting a season high 52.0% from the field, and 38.9% from beyond the arc. Brittney Dukes was the Bearcats leading scorer once again, giving SBU 22 points off of 9 of 16 shooting from the field. Chasity Prince hit some key three pointers late in the contest, giving SBU 12 points, and Kaitlyn Cramer added a career high 12 points.

"We made a good effort tonight, head coach Todd Voss commented. "I felt like defensively we were a lot better and there are a lot of things we can build off of with what we did in this game. Pittsburg State has an outstanding team. We are dealing with some injuries, but I thought our kids came in a fought really hard. It was disapointing with a loss, but if we carry over some of the things we did tonight it will lead to future success."

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, December 17 when they host Oklahoma Wesleyan. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center.
